Proper
PM
What
Are The Steps To Proper PM?
-
Understanding in detail, what equipment is used in your business.
-
Understanding what Preventative Maintenance actions need to be performed on the equipment you have.
-
Providing the right amount, at the right place, at the right time.
-
A systematic application of those PM actions or consistent application of the tasks.
(We Suggest using a Computerized Maintenance Management System)
-
Documentation of your daily operations that can transfer into charts, graphs, and equations that will help you understand how your equipment is running.
-
Continuous improvement or updating of your Preventative Maintenance process to insure that the work provided is a true representation of work that is vital to the proper and efficient operation of the equipment. In reviewing the history of a piece of equipment in relation to breakdowns, failures, or corrective repairs, It should be determined if the prescribed preventative maintenance actions addressed in the task or tasks for that piece of equipment are appropriate. If a step in a task is not necessary, then delete it. If a step needs adding to insure that everything understandable and possible is being done to keep the equipment operating safely, at top efficiency and productivity, then add it!
